Hello Again Devoted Followers!! Crickets Crickets
Ok, I won’t pretend to think I actually have any devoted followers. Especially after the LONG break since the last time I posted anything. I thought I should take a moment to explain my situation as well as the history and future of the site.
Let’s start with my current situation. I’m lazy. That’s pretty much the long and short of the whole thing. I also don’t particularly like to read or write, and I don’t pretend to be good at it. The process of making these articles is long and boring and not very rewarding. So when I decided to break my cycle and take a little break from the site, I simply went into full abandonment mode and haven’t made much attempt to come back. Hopefully I can turn this around soon.
Now, I’m sure that might bring up some questions. Why would a person who hates to read and write, and isn’t even good at it, decide to start a blog in the first place? That’s simple. I love retro games and I needed something to motivate me to play more of them. I need to play the games because I need to write the articles, and I write the articles as motivation to play more games. For a while it worked out great. I played through quite a few games that I had been neglecting, and I expanded my physical collection to a respectable level.
Unfortunately, I burned myself out. Writing the articles on average took about 3 times the length of the game. So even a relatively short 5 hour game would take 15 – 20 hours of work before I could post it. That’s on top of my normal full time job as well as being a husband and father. Eventually, the weekly article schedule I set up for myself just became too much and I quit.
As much as I’ve enjoyed removing this source of stress from my life, I have missed the site. I’ve also hardly played any retro games since I stopped writing for the site. So I need to find some kind of middle ground. Moving forward I’m going to try some different writing methods to make it a bit easier on myself. Maybe it will work, maybe it won’t. But I want to get back to playing my games, and I hope you’ll join me in my adventures.
So look forward to my next project which should be starting soon!
